The incredible lightness of buyer’s remorse
LDuring the presidential races last summer during the issue of Presidential Obama’s actual place of birth came up and questions arose whether he was, in fact, eligible to run for the presidency. He eventually released a copy of his birth certificate issued by the state of Hawaii. This seemed to satisfy most but not all Americans. I never even blogged about it. In the months since his election to POTUS, the birth certificate truffers have only gathered steam and adherents to their novel view of the alleged ‘ambiguity’ of his birth. I call it a case of buyer’s remorse. It happens.
I like to think myself as a pragmatic person so let’s play pretend for a minute and suggest the current POTUS was not actually born on America soil; what do you really think will happen next in the best case scenario? I suppose Birth Certificate truffers can feel vindicated for a moment and the best case scenario for them means President Obama is forced to resign from office. This means the Vice President, Joe (my foot is surgically attached to the inside of my mouth) Biden assumes control of the White house. Really now, does anyone – anywhere, really want that?
While you may take issue with President Obama, your fight is not with Obama and his place of birth but with your fellow Americans who voted for him and believe in his vision and values. Take the fight to them and put away the birth certificate foolishness.
