The World’s Strictest Parents – dateline Israel – Update
Israellycool has found the episode of the world’s strictest parents. I have written about this episode before and I have posted the first two videos. Watching the episodes I am struck by how sane and normal the parents of these very rebellious teenagers are and I find myself asking; how did it come to pass that these teenagers became so hostile and rebellious? First, meet the teens.

In watching the teenagers interact with their host religious Jewish family I believe I have discovered a partial answer. The host family has a secret weapon and support system which the teens families do not have. While one can answer glibly that it is Torah but its more like Torah plus. The host families live well rooted in a community which supports the values they are trying to instill in their children and acts to reinforce those values. I won’t call it a balm which will soothe all teenage rebellions but it certainly beats trying to raise your family while the wider outside community actively engages to demean and degrade the values you are trying to instill in your children.
